In this market, your literary novel has to compete with prize-winning fiction and have the profundity of the classics.
Do you want to give your novel more depth and texture? Just as a painter learns palette knife technique sitting at the feet of Wheat Field with Cypresses in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, writers of all types of narrative—fiction and memoir–can advance their craft by emulating Western culture’s greatest authors. In a seven-day intensive workshop in the heart of the South of France, bring your project and your writing to the next level with sought-after personal editor Susan Brown, PhD and cutting edge literary agent Andy Ross.
From the perspective of the agent and the book publisher, literary agent Andy Ross will describe the book acquisition process from marketing to book contract, suggest how to assess trends and agents, and review publication and promotion. Master teacher and James Joyce Scholar Susan Brown will coach writers to begin or accelerate a writing project by studying and applying the literary secrets of our greatest authors.
Saint-Remy-de-Provence is a romantic medieval village at the foot of the Alpilles range. It’s best known for being the last home of Vincent Van Gogh. St. His famous painting, “Starry Night” is an image of St. Remy under a night sky. It’s also the location of spectacular Roman ruins from the time of Augustus Caesar. It has crumbling medieval walls, fabulous restaurants, charming narrow streets with great opportunities for shopping or just hanging out at the cafe. October is the best month to be in Provence. The crowds have left and the weather is wonderful. We will be staying and working in a charming 3 star boutique hotel in town that has a pool and wi-fi . They will be serving continental breakfast daily.
